Blood

Blood is responsible for transporting oxygen and nutrients to all the cells of the body, and for transporting toxins and waste products away from the cells. Blood plasma is the fluid which holds the nutrients for transport. Suspended in the plasma are red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. The red blood cells transport oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. White blood cells fight infections and parasites. Platelets are used for blood clotting.

In a healthy body, toxins and waste products are removed from the blood by the liver and kidneys. When these organs cannot eliminate toxins, either because they are damaged or because the body is being overwhelmed with toxic substances, they continue to circulate to all the cells of the body, causing disease.
